Online Dating Tips For Phone Safety by Richard T. Kessinger

Be careful when you give out your phone number to someone you meet online. Some people on the Internet may use your number against you. Make sure you use all of the safety measures needed to confirm that the person you are talking to is honest, trustworthy, and not scamming you or your phone number.

When you are using any online dating service, it is very easy to fall for a phone scam. This is when a person asks you to call them, and all of a sudden you have a phone bill for hundreds of dollars because the number was cloned or you dialed a nine hundred number unknowingly. So, do you still want to call someone you met on the Internet? Yes. To find the right person, you need to take chances. You can't stay under a rock your whole life, right? When you come to the conclusion that you want to call someone, you should use your cell phone or a phone service in order to keep your home phone number safe. A pay phone would work well here, or you can just have a block on your regular phone. The best option is probably the pay phone, since you can remain anonymous and you won't find a huge bill at the end. Skype is another option you can use as a phone service; it helps that Skype adds a protective layer to your conversations. When using a cell phone, you can get a disposable phone with prepaid minutes to stay on the safe side. This will keep you anonymous, and you won't be traced. When you feel more comfortable in the relationship, you can always give out your other numbers later. Everybody has the right to protect themselves in online dating to avoid getting scammed.
